FullBucket sat down with Hillary to discuss her passion for helping people and horses, and what she’s learned about both in the 11 years since she started her organization.

"All of our horses are rescue horses that are unwanted or neglected and abused.  ...the ones that have pasts of abuse, we’ve found that clients who have had similar pasts of abuse or neglect join up with those horses or those horses join up with them. And you just start to see the healing start. It’s incredible."

Equitarian Initiative in Peru

Full Bucket BlogTravelers met from all over in Houston and Lima to begin our trip to Peru. As somewhat expected, customs in Lima took a long time to pass through. Maria Teresa, our coordinator from the non-profit VidaDigna, helps us with permits, and we generally have a good working relationship with the customs officials at SENASA because of the trip’s long-time in-country presence.

It took us at least 5 hours to have all of our boxes inspected, which had been shipped to various trip participants prior to the trip to check as extra baggage. Everything cleared, but it seemed to have warranted double- and triple-inspection and communication with a superior over the phone.

Resolution - Act With Courage!

Courage is a BIG word. One that I typically associate with acts of extreme bravery or heroism. People who rush into the fire, protect our country or stand up to tyranny when they are certain to lose their life have courage. Courageous are those who continue to brave the wicked storms of cancer with only the desire to have one more day. These are definite acts of courage, but recently I’ve come to realize that courage can also be discovered in smaller, more personal achievements. And if you’re keen to the varieties and manifestations, you see that courage surrounds your world, defines you.

FullBucket Giving Trip - Mexico
